The Kingdoms by Natasha Pulley

God it's even worse the second time. I think this book is bad for my health. It's impossible to be normal about this book. I'll never recover.

This book drew me in from the first page and held my attention for its entire length. I can hardly think of another book that has engrossed me like that. The prose is beautiful. The mystery is actually puzzling and unfolds in the softest and most subtle ways (except for the Spoilerexposition letters but you don't really need them to figure stuff out). There were some things that were predictable, and so I kind of liked how the reveals weren't so dramatic. Sometimes they were a little too underwhelming (like, you aren't going to react more to this?) but I didn't mind it.
