This was another really good book in the series which struck a great balance between slower moments, tension and action, meaning it was all really comprehensible (fixing a problem I’ve had with moments in the previous books). The character work is great, and the writing really captures the essence of humanity and somehow feels believable even among the more hard sci-fi elements of the plot. This book in particular deals with lots of detailed political themes which could have been boring, but are in fact presented in a really engaging and easy to follow way. It also deals with complex issues like mental health, coercive control and cultural oppression really deftly against a dramatic backdrop. Probably not the best in the series so far, but not far off at all.
