Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery
5.0

This is actually my favorite of the whole series - I felt like I could most relate to Anne and all her feelings here (because I am Anne and Anne is me, lololol). What struck me is how the college experience really didn't change all that much from the early 1900s to the early 2000s - all of the friendships, romances, stresses and emotions rang so true to me and brought me back to my own college days. I especially enjoyed Anne and her friends' day-to-day lives in Patty's Place, and the endless Anne/Gilbert drama and ultimate happy ending that I devoured with relish. I feel that the subsequent books each take a further step away from Anne's inner feelings, so I appreciated this sometimes raw look into the intense emotions of a woman teetering on the edge of childhood and adulthood.
