Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

2.0

Since 2019, I have been trying to read around 2 to 3 classic novels per year. So, I chose the Audible book of Anna Karenina knowing that it was going to be lengthy and that the characters rambling about anything. It was wise to have the audiobook and sense of its tedium. The various topics of capitalism, communism, the class system in imperial Russia, marriage, the social pressure on women versus men did not surprise. Yet, it was difficult to really care for the characters in the end due to their incessant rambling thoughts and speech interactions with others. The book could have been chopped by a few hundred pages and the writing tighter to get to the point.
