Upgrade was a quick read. I do not think it is as memorable as Dark Matter or Recursion by Blake Crouch, but I do think it succeeds at introspection and meaning where those books fail.
The main plot device of the book really made me think about my life and my relationships and what matters to me most about those things.
"We were a monstrous, thoughtful, selfish, sensitive, fearful, ambitious, loving, hateful, hopeful species. We contained within us the potential for great evil, but also for great good. And we were capable of so much more than this."
