Devil Bones by Kathy Reichs
3.0
It's Dr. Brennan vs the devil worshipers!
Or at least that's what it looks like when a plumber discovers cauldrons filled w/ bones & occult-y items. I read this a couple of months ago, so the details are fuzzy, but what I do clearly remember is that it happened. IT finally happened. After *years* of everyone surrounding Temperance blithely & coarsely drinking in front of her, she finally snaps & falls off the wagon. Not that I'm happy about it, but I guess it did feel a bit inevitable. I think that was the most unsatisfying part of the book; everything else about a mystery, details you didn't find out as the story progressed, are revealed & wrapped up in a neat little package for the reader in the last chapter. Here, Temperance gets black-out drunk & we never find out exactly what she did. She had been on a date w/ a newly revealed character from her past, but what she did, what she said, what HE did...nada.
Anyway, these books are what they are. I'll keep reading them, though.
