Caught in the Flames
by Kacey Shea
I could not stop listening to this emotional, sweet and sexy romance. It captured me right from the exhilarating beginning, wondering what will happen to Callie. It then went back in time to help us understand how she ended up in that frightful predicament. Callie is a recent college graduate with a new job and a new home near a fire-station filled with hot, sexy firemen. Callie and her friends let loose and enjoy her new neighbors. But things are not always as they seem, and the secrets and plot twists had me questioning what would happen next. There are so many secondary characters who are quirky, supportive, and adversarial that add so much depth, intrigue and fun to this story. It is a long listen, and it did get a bit angsty at one point for me, but it quickly transformed into a beautiful story of life's ups and downs, true friendship, and recognizing true love. Callie's growth by the end of the book was fascinating, and touching. Savannah Peachwood absolutely nailed it as Callie. I love how she portrayed Callie's vulnerability, obsessive nature, pain, and growth into a confident woman, friend, and lover. Her voice changes were distinct and her intonations make you feel all the fun, passion, and intense emotions of this story. I was totally lost in her performance. This is my first listen to this author, and narrator, and I will definitely check out more of their work.
