This is one book that I did not enjoy as much as the first time I read it. Every character in this book is detestable. While this book is considered a love story, I think it's not about love at all. It's about spite and revenge. It's quite violent for its time, especially considering that it was written by a woman. (Nothing graphic, but not the typical genteel story written by Austen or Charlotte Bronte.)
