When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain by Nghi Vo
3.0
I did not realize this was the second book in a series (or does it only take place in the same world as the first book?) I still enjoyed it, and would have given it four stars if not for the ending...
Super tense, since it isn't clear how the main characters will avoid being eaten by the tigers... And I was expecting them to survive through some clever trickery or flattery or for it to be revealed that the cleric had a plan the whole time. But nope, they were saved by some random mammoth riders who happened to be nearby. What happened to the tigers? Who knows. The main character was annoyingly useless most of the time, and they never really redeemed themselves in the end. They just told a story as a delaying tactic for no reason since they had no way to know that they were waiting for anything.
I'm disappointed, but everything before the ending was really fun <3
