Fall With Me
by Brooke Montgomery
Fall With me was the 3rd book in Brooke Montgomery's Sugarland Creek series. I loved the last 2 books, and I was highly anticipating Landen's romance. This one had a crazy setup, with a dislike to lovers and amnesia trope.
Ellie is a barrel racer, and she is 100% focused on her career. She has been training with Landen and his sister for 4 years, but she hates Landen. Landen has been trying to win her over for years, and he has been pining for her since he met her. However, she gets in an accident and wakes up with no memory of Landen. She no longer hates him and actually pursues him. Landen is able to see a whole new side to Ellie, and they start to date, but they are worried about how she will feel about him if her memories return.
Ellie had reasons for hating Landen, although I thought the way she treated Landen was crazy. Landen was a sweet golden retriever hero who was so sweet and flirtatious with her. Yet Ellie was constantly cold and rude to him. She refused to tell him why she didn't like him or even hear his side of the story, which really started to irritate me. I could not get behind her and how she treated Landen.
The other issue I had with this book was how long it took to get to the amnesia part of the story. The amnesia was already teased in the previous book, yet we still had to wait for half of the book to get to it. That means we were reading about Ellie hating Landen for most of the book. I felt like we needed to get to the amnesia earlier in the book so we could show them falling in love. The romance felt super rushed because it took too long to get there.
I did love seeing all the side characters, and I wanted more Grandma Hollis. She is my favorite! I think this is a great series, and I am excited to get to the twins' books. I also loved Ellie's relationship with her horse, Ranger, since I am a big horse girlie.
TW: drowning, mentions of suicide
