Bone Crier's Moon by Kathryn Purdie

3.0

I actually liked most of the plot of the book and it's ending. I liked the storyline with the Bone criers more than the one with Bastien and Alesse, which I found kind of boring until the two merge at the end. I liked the mythology in this book and hope we get to see more of it in the next book. I adored Sabine character, her development and determination in saving Alesse. I really didn't like Bastien and a big part of the reason why was the narrator in the audiobook, I didn't like how he told the story (Alesse and Sabine's narrator were fine). Other reasons are that is development was rush and was annoying with he's revenge. I didn't believe nor ship Alesse and him. Their relationship just happened. There was no development and It went directly from enemies-to-lover in a manner of a few pages. I didn't see any chemistry or how they could have fallen in love. I liked Alesse characters on the other hand and liked her relationship with Sabine (they had more chemistry (in a sisterly bond way) than Bastien/Alesse). The writing was okay and the world's building was well writing and easy to understand. My only issue was that the French in this book didn’t make sense even if some of the words were made up, it still didn’t make sense. Also, can I protect Marcel at all costs, he's so innocent and doesn't look like he belonged in the middle of everything.
