The Lake of Lost Girls by Katherine Greene
4.0
challenging dark mysterious sad tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Loveable characters: No

Katherine Greene sets the scene of an eerie whodunit, that surrounds a college town, well-known lake, and four missing girls. It is told in a dual timeline between past and present, and you are kept guessing how the mystery is going to unfold. There is a podcast element to the story, which incorporates various forms of social media and news headlines, and is a refreshing way of breaking up the plot. She lines up quite a cast of suspicious characters, and your brain is working overtime throughout the book to try and figure it out. I did predict the plot twist toward the end of the book, but it was still a clever and unique turn of events. The additional POVs at the end were also a nice touch. I was not in love with the main narrators for Lindsay and Jessica's chapters, but the podcaster portions were exceptional. I would recommend this book for a quick, twisty turny, thriller.
