Wrong Turn, Right Direction by Elle Casey

3.0

OH MAN!

Mika Cleary has had a tough life. Her parents are both criminals, thus forcing her grandmother to care for her. And when she passed, Mika was all on her own. Desperate to provide for herself, she got mixed up with a Russian mafia boss! She was trapped in a scary and sticky situation when fate stepped in and literally hit her with her superman. Or rather – she hit him.

Thibault Delacroix, the last single member of the Bourbon Street Boys, took a wrong turn in the right direction. (See what I did there?) When, BAM, he was hit by some crazy woman going the wrong direction down a one way street. After a shocking surprise, Elle Casey style, Thibault can’t abandon Mika to deal with her crazy situation all on her own. He catches a lot of grieve from the team because Mika trusts no one, and they think he is in over his head – both in trouble and in love.

I really wanted to give this story a better rating, but I just couldn’t. Elle Casey knows how to write and take the reader on a wild ride – no arguments there. However, it was rushed at the important parts and dragged out in other parts. The first 10% of the book was great. It was wonderfully written and left me wanting more. As the book went on, it slowed down quite a bit but I was still enjoying it. The frustrating part, for me, was the ending. It felt extremely rushed and left a few things open-ended. A very, very bad pet-peeve of mine. For example, there is a chapter towards the end of the book that it two pages long. TWO! I mean, really?

Also, I know this book is all about Mika and Thibault but it is – to my knowledge – the last of the Bourbon Street Boys, so could we have not gotten an epilogue or something. There were things brought up, such as kids, which I would have loved to gotten some insight on. To me, this book already felt like it didn’t quite follow the flow of the other books. It was kind of the black sheep of the series. So to not to have any details on the team as a whole was quite frustrating to me.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a good book. I am just so invested in the team that I was upset that this didn’t wrap up the series in the way I needed it too. Maybe Mrs. Casey left things open-ended for a reason. There is a new team member, as Thibault mentioned briefly, so maybe we will see the gang again.

I still recommend this series to anyone who likes a good witty romance read. It is a story that will stick with you. I know I will be thinking of the gang for a while, and I might have to even go back and visit them soon. 
