Still Beating was the first book I read from @author.jenniferhartmann and was easily a top 10 book for me for 2024. Irreversible is only the fifth book I've read this year but I already know it will be a top book for me for this year as well. I knew going into this story that I would be broken into a zillion pieces and put back together and I wasn't wrong. The emotions this book put me through!! Words cannot accurately convey the depth of my feelings.

This is a two part story with the first part detailing what happens before the abductions and during the captivity. I could feel every torment our main characters go through and the depths of their guilt. I cried when they bared their souls and told their stories to each other with only a wall between them. I can't even listen to the song "The Scientist" without tearing up a little. The second part of the story deals with everything that happens after, which again breaks my heart to see how our mcs try to cope with their decisions. I think this is really what "Irreversible" refers to. Several choices are made by multiple characters that change the course of their lives.

A few side notes - there are some very spicy scenes but not a ton, and honestly this story is better for it. The authors really do a nice job putting those scenes exactly where they need to be. It is a lengthy book, but honestly? I would have enjoyed even more chapters of this story! I loved the added scenes in the far future, and I admit I was surprised at the twist to those scenes. Finally, the very last sentence of this book made me a sobbing mess. I truly can't say enough.
