Cal… my man… I was really rooting for you…

What I liked:
I like how this book focused on Maven, because it gave the reader a better understanding on why things turned out the way it did before, and it makes you want to go into the book and give Maven a hug. I also liked how this book had more than one perspective because we got to know what the Scarlet Guard were upto even though Mare was not there, it was nice to know that they did not wait for Mare inorder to move on with their plans (like in other books I have read). This made the book seem more realistic in the sense that the world does not revolve around Mare even though she is the main character in the series. I also love all the new characters we go to meet because they are so strong and funny.

What I did not like:
um...Cal….he was an undecided hypocrite.. And his actions at the end made me so mad because he threw away everything Mare and the Guard have been working on FOR YEARS. I feel like he didn’t stop and truly think, which made me frustrated. (I still love him though, but I am currently mad at him). I also don’t like the “pick me” people…. But I loved it in this book because I was like “AHHHHH… YAS”

Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable read that was a little repetitive and slow at the beginning.
