Set in Dublin, the descriptions are almost poetic, and the sensory details are intricate. That said, I was confused about what was going on, for a while, and it didn't help that the punctuation style excluded quotation marks (why?), so the dialogue and narrative were muddled for me, at first. I did get used to it, eventually, kind of like hearing Shakespeare.
Death of a family member can help draw family members together, or add additional friction. Started with one, ended with the other. I "read" both brothers as on the autism spectrum, don't know if that was intentional, or no. I also have a much older sibling, and their relationship was so different, I didn't know if that was autism, gender, or...? Both men kinda irked me, at first, but I grew to be interested in them, and hoping they'd find a way to forge new relationships, with each other, and their love interests. Liked, but did not love it.
