i read this book because the Book Cougars were reading it for their episode with the Mystery man John Valeri. I read a lot of Margaret Truman in the 1980s but so fast i don’t even remember what i read  so i was looking forward to seeing if i still enjoyed the books as much as I remembered. This book did not disappoint. it was just what i needed to read in the election fallout. It captured my attention and kept me reading. In the book a historian stumbles on an art scandal and is killed at a party at the Smithsonian. The mystery involving the MPD Captain, the victim’s fiancé and several others with interests in the murder and the piece of art at the center of the case is riveting. i enjoyed reading about people who have to use pay phones to call each other. So happy to be revisiting these murder mysteries. Others on the list will be in my future.
