Matilda by Mary Shelley

4.0

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

I kicked of my reading for #SpookySeason with the short novella "Matilda" by Mary Shelley.

#Shelley is an author I always wanted to explore as I am very intrigued by her biography and the fact that she wrote one of the greatest masterpieces of literature at the young age of 18 years.

However, I was never really in the right mindset to commit to it , so this October I want to change that and plan on reading #Frankenstein later in the month.

This story was not what I expected. I thought it would be similar to Frankenstein in themes and suspense. However, it deeply moved me and sometimes gave me a heavy heart. You can definitively see in those lines the sorrow, greave and depression Shelley put in this work, after she just lost her child.

So, I guess this is a good start into Shelley's work, however, be prepared for a very dark and emotional tale.
