I started off liking this well enough, it was mainly to listen to while i did some cleaning. After the ~40% mark tho is when i noticed the writing REALLY wasn’t doing it any favors. The author explaining very obvious reactions to events in the story to readers like we lack reading comprehension honestly became so grating that i increased the speed to get through this faster. (if id noticed this any sooner than 40% in i would’ve dropped it). For example, the main characters go to Vauxhall and they’re in a room where the painting is an obvious critique of a woman with too many suitors, as they converse with a lady who brought two escorts with her. It was not necessary to explain the parallels of that scenario to the reader p l s. even more so since the character like never appeared again??
Anyway, i liked Diana well enough altho i do think her naïveté was really played up and that was a little infuriating to read at the start but she grew on me. I liked Lady Regina a lot, glad she got her happy ending.
