Beyond Order: 12 More Rules For Life by Jordan B. Peterson

2.0

I recently read "12 More Rules for Life" by Jordan Peterson and, while I did find some value in the book, it was not a satisfying read. One of my main issues with the book was the writing style. At times, Peterson was very verbose and could have benefited from being more concise in his examples and anecdotes. Additionally, the structure of the book felt a bit disjointed at times, and I found myself struggling to stay engaged as a reader. One tip I would offer to other readers who have short attention spans like me (haha), is to skip to the last page of each section, as that is where Peterson tends to tie things together in a beautiful and concise way.

While I did appreciate the analogies and references to stories and fiction that Peterson included in the book, I found that they often detracted from the value of his actual clinical experience and references to scientific studies. I would have preferred if he had focused more on the latter and less on the former. However, I understand that many readers may enjoy the fairy tale and fictional references (dragons?) and find them helpful in understanding his points.

Overall, while I found some value in the ideas and insights presented in the book, the verbosity and disjointed structure made it difficult for me to fully engage with and enjoy the reading experience.
