Never Lie by Freida McFadden

dark mysterious

5.0

Another fabulous book by Freida where I once again thought I knew what was going to happen, when pull me sideways and hit me with a fiddle stick. I was completely wrong.

Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan go to view a remote house with a plan to buy but get stuck there together during a snow storm. The house in question has history, the previous owner is missing, presumed dead. Ethan wants to buy the house but Tricia is unsure and when she starts seeing things like strange footprints and moving portraits, it gets creepy. She then discovers a secret room full of secret recordings from the previous owner and Tricia is now in danger.

This book is hard to review without giving spoilers but I love Freida's writing style. Short punchy chapters and alternating between past and present she draws you in leaving a trail of bread crumbs to follow but then literally drops you off a cliff with the twist.

For those who love a phychological thriller and mystery - this is definitely a recommended read.
