The Self-Made Widow by Fabian Nicieza

3.0

It's challenging to write a review on a book/series you loved and loathed equally. But after completing the second book in the series I realized that Andrea is truly the more enjoyable arc in the story, from her numerous children, fractured marriage, and superficial friendships with the "Cellulitists". Matched with her overall brilliance, extreme potty mouth, and dry/sarcastic wit, she truly is the perfect main character to solve crimes in Suburbia.

I find Kenny to be such an unlikeable character that it's challenging to even care about his overall character arc or his contributions to uncovering the scandals. I did enjoy this series overall and would be willing to read (or rather listen) to a 3rd novel but I also hope the author considers a series based solely on Andie.

While I found the story as a whole to be interesting it was the final line in this story that made me jump for joy and consider giving this 5 stars. There is so much potential for future stories based on the final comment from Andie and I can't wait to see where she goes from here.
