I honestly don't even know where to begin with this review. After the insane emotional rollercoaster that the first book took me on, I didn't think that stakes in this series could get any higher, but they somehow did. I've only cried in a few books throughout my life, but chapter 68 made me sob. I've gone back and read it probably twenty times and I think it is genuinely the most devastating fictional story I have read yet. Carissa Broadbent that was EVIL (but this is such a good story, I love you)!

Aside from the mess that this book made me, there's genuinely SO much that happens in this 620 page book. Like I feel like I got three books packed into one, and it worked seamlessly. We get an entire new cast of characters, whom I was admittedly a little questionable of at first. I already loved the POVs we had, so I wasn't looking forward to reading from any new ones. However, I ended up loving these characters and their chapters far more than I would have thought possible.

As for the plot, several of the things that happened I was able to predict beforehand, but that didn't make them any less enjoyable (or hurt any less). I can't really give anything else away without spoiling, but just know that tons of insane stuff happens. And as if the first book wasn't already very dark with some of the topics it covered, this one gets even darker. If you are sensitive at all while reading, I would highly encourage searching up trigger warnings before diving into this one.

I had a great time reading this but also my emotions were not having a great time!! I am so scared for the conclusion in book three...
