The first thing that stands out to me about this book is the culture. This is based in Argentina with Argentinian characters. The way that food played a part in spending time together and connecting with family, the bond over a certain sport, the endearing teams (even those that people may find offensive but truly depends on the context which is explained in the author’s note) and more were all things I could connect with. I loved Camila’s passion. She made me feel empowered to be the best that I can be. I enjoyed the romance between her and Diego. Despite the outcome, it worked out in my eyes. Romance doesn’t always need to have a happy ending or even develop into more right away. This book really showed how being selfish isn’t always actually being selfish. I could go on about this book but it should be experienced on its own. It was pretty close to being a favorite. I’d still recommend 100%.
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Mental illness, Sexism, Kidnapping
