Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
5.0
This book is fantastic.
It is fantastic in the way that it will tear your heart out and make you stressed out for the characters wellbeing, all the while being thrilling and addictive enough to make sure you can't put it down.
There was so much history stuffed into this book. And the important thing is that the history is not just stated as facts, or just put in there because "it is historical fiction." The history was vital to the storyline, the characters, and so I know I'm not going to go forgetting all that I learnt in a hurry.
the character development throughout the book was beautiful. the main characters, plus a few of the side characters, were all portrayed as lifelike, and real. Their development is something so subtle, yet so definite - it really shows Sepetys writing abilities.
Just go on and read the book before I manage to blurt out any spoilers!!
