This book is about a human named Lore who wants to improve the lives of her human village against the reigning Fae.  She stumbles on a book that is not quite what it seems that leads her into adventure to help save her people.  There were many elements that I enjoyed in the book: cozy bits, unlikely friendships, adventure, fighting for those you love, and a magical library.  These were portions of the book that sometimes seemed in stark contrast to the violence and dark elements within it at times.  This is also the first in a a duology and the ending has very little relief to the overarching stress points of the plot which was unsatisfying for me.  I'm used to SJM style books where she leaves the characters generally in a good place with some lingering questions on the horizon.  This wasn't that, which just isn't my personal preference.  This is a debut novel, and I'm excited to see more from this author in the future.
