Disappointed in the second half.
The first part of the book was an adventure and showed how was affected the Soviet Union in WWII. It did a great job showing how everyone was involved in keeping the Germans out of the Soviet Union. There was even a partial love interest that had his own backstory, which we get glimpses of.
And then, everything changes.
It felt like the second half of the book was by a completely different person. The writing was different, the main character was not as interesting, and the love interest disappears. Not saying that every book requires a love interest, but this one is just not mentioned again. Like another sniper arrives to help the main character and she is like 'oh, this girl saved me so the guy that I have been thinking about all book can go now.' I also felt like the second half is rushed.
Giving this book a 3 because I enjoyed the beginning so much. It had me up late reading. Unfortunately, the second half was a slog to get through.
