benkaboo 's review for:
A Feast for Crows
by George R.R. Martin
Summary: The tail end of the war of Kings sees desperate royal-wannabees scrabbling for power or a place of safety when their bets didn't pay off.
Things I liked:
Rereadability: second time through was still grossly enjoyable.
Character driven: OK sure you want to know what's gonna happen next but that's mostly cause you care about the characters.
Things I thought could be improved:
Too many unnecessary descriptions of food. A bit adds atmosphere; too much just seems silly played against the life/death scenarios most of the characters find themselves in.
Highlight: spooky horror atmosphere when Briene approaches the abandoned castle looking for her 'sister'.
