One Yellow Eye

i feel quite complicated about this? the grief is so personal it almost feels wrong to say something negative.
from the perspective of a horror fan, i love this take on a zombie like virus. exploring it from a scientific standpoint is really refreshing and it doesn’t lose any traction either. i suppose there’s also an edge to every outbreak story now that we’re living through a covid effected world.
on the flip side, the MC is so frustrating but of course she is, she’s struggling through a very unique situation. but as someone who can only understand this through the abstracted (and privileged) lens of not having lost a love one, it did make me clench my jaw at times.
i suppose overall this book is successful in how much it tackles at once - i really did like it! tbh i think it was just too british for me? lmao i’m sorry british people!! but the emotional turmoil was a little much 😭
