missamelia 's review for:
Everything is Tuberculosis
by John Green
hopeful
informative
fast-paced
Reading this after following John's fixation on TB from 2019 to the present is a kind of deja vu. I don't think there were many anecdotes I hadn't heard in one form or another, and because of that it felt a little patchwork to me at times, but I think that's coming from me rather than the book itself. I imagine that for the average reader, this would be an excellent and acces ible introduction to tuberculosis, weaving history, science, and personal narrative together in the same way John did in The Anthropocene Reviewed. If you finish the book and don't feel the urge to join the fight against TB, you probably didn't read very closely.
