This is mainly on me.

Based by the premise and concept, I was expecting to pick up a high fantasy book (genre that I absolutely love) and was a little bit disappointed by the misconception since what I found instead is a fantasy book that reads in a modern way. It's the kind of book I would've eaten up at 15.
Sadly I'm not 15 anymore and the amalgamation of tropes and the repetitive style of narrating didn't work for me.

I did enjoy a few of the twists, although some of them were predictable (not necessarily a bad thing, though). But I felt like the main character kept losing a bit of strength as the book progresses (ironic in this case, actually) and I felt like the narration was kind of slow at some points (but maybe that's just me thinking the book was going to be filled with action and adventure).

An easy and entertaining read to ease your way into the fantasy genre, if that's what you're looking for.
