Clarice Lispector captures the kind of inner life that often remains invisible: the aching, layered intensity of feeling misunderstood, of living on a deeper frequency, of being both too much and not enough at once.
Joana is not a character I merely observed. I was her. And at times, I was Otávio too. Conflicted, codependent, searching. There’s a kind of solitude this novel portrays, the kind that makes you question whether true connection is even possible, and whether the self must be lost in order to be found.
