The Grey Wolf by Louise Penny
4.0

Thank you Netgalley, Hodder & Stoughton and Louise Penny for the eArc of The Grey Wolf.

I read the synopsis of this book of these book and thought it sounded really good. It wasn't until I started reading, I realised it is part of the Chief Inspector Gamache Mysteries ( book 19 of 20 ) but it didn't really take away from the book. I would however, advise people to start back at book 1 ( Still Life)  as there is an undercurrent of a backstory.

The Grey Wolf, if anything to go by, is a well plotted, engaging book with some great elements to add to this series. Our MC, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is a likeable, rough around the edges and a very clever character. Even though I hadn't read the other books, I could feel the underlaying story with him. He's a very developed character and liked him straight away. The plot direction and pacing was great, medium paced with a few lulls to let you get your breath back before building back up to several twists and turns. The finale was well executed and wrapped up nicely to lead into the next ( possibly last? ) in the series.

At some point, Im gonna go back at read the rest of the series as I bet. they are just as engaging!
