Powerless by Elsie Silver

4.0

JASPER MF GERVAIS, i said it once and i’ll say it again, it’s always the quiet ones with the filthiest mouth, and this man gave Rhett & Cade a run for their money. but in all seriousness, the things this man had to go through to get to where he is, he’s completely aware of where he came from and isn’t ashamed to be a “ranch boy” surrounded by all the pretty boys

and then we have my girl Sloane who, in blood, sweat, and tears, was able to break free from the ideal and expectations pushed to her. my girl found her voice after being silenced for so long and she damn well knew how to use it by the end, loud and proud

“because we’re me and you. we’re us. unlikely and inevitable all at once. we’re forever.”

it’s no secret that friends to lovers is one of my least favorite tropes but i have found one of my only exceptions! the relationship development between Sloane & Jas was smoothly done and i love how the story isn’t just about how they (finally) found their way to each other but also back to their true selves

i read the first two books a while back and i completely forgot how hilarious everyone is! i’m loving the friendship and dynamic built between all the characters, Willa is still an absolute gem and Harvey still very much steals every scene he’s in. also i love the little glimpse shown here of the found family in Elsie Silver’s Gold Rush Ranch series, it’s made me want to jump right into that one after this book!

needless to say, this has easily become my favorite small-town series, every single book hasn’t failed to give me the giggles, they’re all so good and heartwarming in their own way and i can’t wait for what’s to come next!

thank you thank you so much Elsie and GreysPromo for sending me an arc!
