The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

5.0

I had to give in and give it 5 stars. I did struggle throught a bit of it, but overall I just couldn't get enough! These are the major components of this series that make it one of a kind:

Lisbeth Salander- the girl with the dragon tattoo, Lisbeth's unique style and unparalleled intelligence make her an unforgettable character.

The Millenium Staff- Protagonist Mikael Blomkvist's magazine staff, this batch of diverse personalities makes me wish for coworkers like that in the future.

The computer wizardry- the Millenium trilogy immerses readers in the high tech (but illegal) world of computer hacking and espionage.

Things I didn't like:

The "James Bond" element- much of the series, especially this last book, involves criminal organizations and government infiltration. I'm not a huge fan of the spy genre, but it worked really well in this trilogy.

Blomkvist's sex addiction- I got annoyed with Mikael's need to sleep with every major female character (except his sister). I realize that this is part of his personality, and so I accept it, but it did get tiresome.

Overall, an amazing read and I can safely say that this series is a must read. I know I'll reread in the future.
