Saints Like Him by Aimee Nicole Walker

5.0

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Saints Like Him is the third book in the Redemption Ridge series. Cash Sweeney has been fortunate to make his way from ex-con to billionaire and have his ranch to help others find their new way. He’s also had the chance to watch his family find love. Where he comes up short is being so deeply in love with his best friend, Nick Scott, but afraid to take it further. Nick Scott is so relieved to finally be home on the ranch with his best friend. He has also been harboring intense feelings for Cash but the time has never been right. The stars seem to have aligned and the two men find themselves willing to give being together a chance, but outside forces are pushing back at their newfound happiness.

Cash Sweeney has a heart of gold and is willing to settle for happiness being found with his family on the ranch and in the friendship he has developed with Nick over more than a decade. He is so afraid that his feelings would scare Nick away that when Nick comes forth with strong declarations of a future together, Cash hesitates. Nick doesn’t take his hesitation as a bad thing and finds himself dedicated to proving how good they could be together. Nick has returned to the ranch to heal not just physically but mentally as well and decide what his future holds. The only thing he knows for certain is that Cash is his past, present and future.

“Seeing those clothes in the suitcase this morning was the epiphany I needed. You wanted me to be sure, and the evidence was right there in front of me. No what-ifs or maybes. I’ve been yours since we met.”

This addition to the series made me so very happy. Cash and Nick have so many levels to their intimacy that shines brightly in their interactions in and out of the bedroom. I love that they have this established friendship that builds into more. I appreciated that their relationship was relatively low angst and although not perfect, we didn’t get unnecessary conflict. The found family at the ranch want nothing more than to see their boss happy and welcome Nick with open arms. The continued strife with the religious cult hits its boiling point with the ranch and its workers not coming out unscathed. We have two pending books hinted at and I just can’t wait to see more MCs get their HEA.

4.5 stars for Cash and Nick allowing themselves to bask in their happily ever after.
