The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams

4.0

This is a re-read for me -- I really liked this edition, however, because it includes a preface and an afterward written by Williams that helped me see the play in a way I hadn't before. The preface talks about the need for a new "plastic" or malleable theater in order for the form to thrive and continue in this country. That he doesn't see his work as Realistic (which I always have). The afterward talks about his struggle with success three years after the play "made it". Very interesting.
