Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese
4.0

This book was number 1 on my to read list from 2011. When I started it I had no expectations for the story at all. I enjoyed this story mostly because of the family connections that were made between the twins and their adoptive parents. I also really enjoyed the faithfulness that is embedded in the daily rituals and extreme circumstances of the characters. The medical aspects of the book could get gruesome but they were easy enough to skim. I wouldn't call this a beach read but it was a nice break from the ya lit I've been immersed in.
