Stanley Yelnats, has been wrongly accused of stealing and is sent to a juvenile detention center in the middle of a desert. Forced to dig one hole each day and report anything interesting they may find. Stanley soon realizes there's more to the digging, someone is looking for something.

This book was... fine.


I can see why it’s considered a classic for younger readers. If I had read it as a kid, I’m sure it would’ve hit harder. But reading it now, it just didn’t land for me in the same way.

Not bad, just not quite for me.
