I wish I hadn't read the first book and started with this book instead. I just could not handle the new direction of the series (that majority of the series follows) after falling in love with the first book. To me, it very much so came off initially as the first book was written during one relationship, then the first 10 chapters of this book were written in response to a break up. The new relationship in this book is much healthier, her friendships stronger, plot even more detailed, but I just couldn't get into the book and did not enjoy the changes as much as I would have if I had skipped the first book.
