I pride myself on being able to spot a twist, but this was a rare book that took me by surprise. The twist I thought was coming was definitely not what the end delivered, and one I hit the acknowledgements on my kindle I had to stare off into space for a few minutes. I really enjoyed Kiva throughout the book, I found her to have a lot of integrity and a strong sense of compassion. Even after the twist twisted, my opinion of her remains unchanged. I also found their little found family to be incredibly charming. I can see how Jaren and Kiva are drawn towards each other - they are mirrors to each other in many ways. I had waiting so long to read this, it was on my TBR forever, but I'm so glad I did and can't wait to see how Kiva's story develops in the next book
