The Bitter Kingdom
by Rae Carson
3.5 stars for Bitter Kingdom but 4-4.5 stars overall series rating.
I was so ready to finish this series because it captivated me so much, I needed to know where Elisa would finally end up. This woman has had such character growth over the series, from feeling useless to being a Ruler is quite a journey. One husband, one boy-love and one man-love has also been fantastic reading.
I found periods of the final book slow and then dramatically exciting, this ebb and flow was occasionally jarring. I also had BIG, BIG expectations for the coming together of the MCs in this book and I wanted more detailed emotion over it.
The audio for book three came with the added bonus of an occasional male POV for Hector and I loved his thoughts and the narration for this.
Overall, the series is memorable, something a little unique and one that I would recommend to fantasy lovers.
