flights by olga tokarczuk is a meditative look at the lives of a number of characters as told by their international travels. these characters are not particularly loved or hated, but they are believable, and the narratives they provide for the foil of the story is surprisingly gripping. i can't imagine that i will read it again soon, but i will keep my copy for the purpose of borrowing it out to friends. that's the kind of book it is, really. the kind that you want to borrow out to your friends.
