The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
4.0

4.25/5

I don't know much of anything about Egyptian myths and Gods, so at first, getting into this novel was confusing. With the other series written by Rick Riordan -who's one of my favorite authors- I had had some basic knowledge of the world I was stepping into, which was not the case here. But, although it did confuse me a little, I'm actually glad for it.
I feel like I've learned a lot through this book and truly enjoyed my time with the Kane siblings. I'm really excited for the rest of this trilogy. I'm excited to discover more about this mythology and those characters.
As with every other Riordan books I've read, this book was funny, full of action and myteries. I really liked the idea of the book being a recording, and only finding out why at the end. I also really liked the pop culture references (though they weren't as good as the ones in Magnus Chase), and the Easter Eggs for Percy Jackson had me dying.

So if I enjoyed it that much, why not give it 5/5 stars you ask ?
Simply because I didn't connect with the caracters as much as I did with Percy Jackson or Magnus Chase. It took me a while to get to know Sadie and Carter and for the first half of the book I felt somehow distant from them and their story. Additionnaly, the siblings are supposed to be 12 and 14 which I didn't buy at all, they felt more like 15/17 years old to me.
That being said, towards the end I really began to connect with them and the secondary characters and I am now really looking forward to continuing on with this series.
