Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

5.0

I've read two of Lim's other books and had high expectations for this book, and it certainly didn't disappoint! While it started off with not a lot of action, it certainly paid off later on in the book when I felt more of a connection to the MC (Maia) and what she was going through at the time.

Right from the start, I was also drawn to the Chinese culture and world, as it's not something that I would normally find in a book, so it felt very unique and authentic to me.

While I liked everything about this book, my favourite part was probably watching Maia and Edan's slow burn romance, and I knew right from the first time that they met that they were perfect for each other, and that love only seemed to grow with every trial that they each faced. Its something I can't wait to see more of in the second book, Unravel the Dusk. It also added to the way the characters developed and grew with the story, as they were learning from each other and discovering more about themselves while they were together.

Overall, this is one of my favourite reads of 2021, and I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent Young Adult read!
