Had high hopes for this book but there were so many complex themes laid out that I was unsure any of them would be deep dived with the current pace the book was going. I ended up reading a synopsis which confirmed my worries- that the story was very predictable and surface level in regards to the various heavy topics addressed. I worry that people who are empathetic to the topics in this book won’t get much more out of it than they already know, and people who could discover something new or interesting from this novel probably wouldn’t pick it up in the first place.
