A Palette for Murder by Jessica Fletcher, Donald Bain
3.0

Three Stars... Sorry Jessica, this one didn't do it for me.

Jessica Fletcher is a very busy woman. She decides to take a much-needed vacation for 10 days at a quaint inn in the Hamptons. She was originally going to stay with her publisher, Vaughn Buckley, but he and his wife Olga had decided to renovate their entire house because of their latest infatuation with art. Jessica too has recently taken up an interest in art. Seeking another outlet for her creativity, Jessica has decided to start painting. That's when things go pear shaped. Jessica signs up for a model drawing class hosted by a local artist. That's when disaster strikes, and the floodgates open. Maybe the Hamptons aren't as relaxing as they seemed...

It's hard to say if I'd recommend this book to anyone... I'd say probably not, unless you are a huge "Murder, She Wrote" fan.

The storyline seems great at first, but there are just too many moving parts. This is an earlier work of the "Murder, She Wrote" book series. They can't all be winners, I suppose. The entire story seems to revolve around one minor plot point, a drawing by Jessica, and we never really get closure on that in the end. There are just too many things going on within this book. You'd think it were actually written by two, very disconnected authors. That being said, I don't regret reading this book. If anything, I'm more curious about the others so I can see the writing evolve.
