I read that this was a Caudill and I have been trying to read a little bit off that list and I knew a lot of people that had read it and really enjoyed it.
I was enjoying the book up until halfway through it and then when one of the main characters passed away (won't say who) I was just shocked! I felt like that came out of no where and I wasn't expecting it at all.
The one thing I really liked about middle grade books is that the family is present throughout the book. I like how this book showed a realistic representation of a death in the family and how people deal differently with it. I think this could be fine for a high schooler to read as well.
