The Good Girl by Nikki Sloane
4.25
My Review:
The Good Girl is the fifth installment in the "Nashville Neighborhood" series and this is where we get a bit of forbidden love and some innocent learning how to kiss and being intimate with someone. Preston and Sydney have known each other for many years. Preston is the best friend to Sydney's older brother. And Preston knows that he can't ever be with Sydney. She is 19 and wanting to become a chef but her parents are trying to control everything that she does. All her life she has endeavored to be the good girl in the family, to do everything right. But her parents hold such tight reigns on her and she knows if she does a misstep she will just end up like her brother who was kicked out of the family. Preston also has more on the line as he is in business with her brother and if things go wrong he could lose everything....but he has been drawn to Sydney for over a year and when she comes to him for lesson on intimacy....he realizes he can't resist her any longer.
The Good Girl was such a fantastic story and I really had a blast with this. Nikki Sloane always delivers and this series has definitely been a blast to read. I loved the whole innocent good girl heroine with the playboy hero. This is actually one of my favorite dynamics to read in romance and Nikki Sloane really did this so well. I loved how easy these two get along, how well they connect to each other and there is such hidden emotional intimacy that grows between them. I really enjoyed their interactions. The character growth that we get from Sydney was delightful. I loved seeing her coming into her own strength, gaining confidence and standing up for what she loves. And if you love the angst that is delivered in a siblings best friend....let me tell you the third act has all that forbidden conflict you could wish for and more!!! And it was definitely one of my more favorite reactions because we also see Sydney and Preston really push back against her brother and fight for each other.
Overall I found The Good Girl to be a fascinating, sensual sweet romance that had me in the feels from beginning to end.
