The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

3.0

listen this was such a rough start since noah came about halfway into the book but this was so intense in the beginning. seeing mara become a shell of herself and none of them knowing how to fix everything it was giving me a headache.

but as things started to come together, daniel helping mara, it got better. marashaw had some of the most beautiful quotes in this book, i was blown away, some of my favorite quotes had to be in this book. the love i have for mara and noah unmatched, i loved jamie and his friendship with mara, and the way daniel was there for her as her partner in crime.

i really loved marashaw and the friendships we see come to be. the ending was perfect like absolutely, the last chapters have to be some of my favorite ones of the book.

the more i understand mara’s character and how she is willing to go beyond for the people she loves, she makes decisions anyone would question but does it to avoid having good people hurt. and seeing noah and how he deals with his feelings, loneliness, guilt, and not wanting to live, their stories are so much more complex. i loved seeing mara and noah have their stories more etched out, beyond the hero and dragon stereotype, i really loved seeing everything tie in together.

“I love you. Today. Tonight. Tomorrow. Forever. If I were to live a thousand years, I would belong to you for all of them. If I were to live a thousand lives, I would want to make you mine in each one.”
